Lovin' Life

This summer has been a sure one to remember and I can't even stand to think of school starting or the fact that it's coming to a close. Ok... not going to go there!

Yesterday was yet another fun-filled day! It's the first day in a long time that we weren't meeting someone to do something. And when that happens, this mama falls behind doing much of anything but staying home. BUT we've GOTTA get the rest of our summer "wishes" checked off of our list!

I made the decision that first we were going to a little hotdog stand that we've heard so much good about. And honestly, I think that was my favorite activity of the day! The man that runs it is the NICEST! And who couldn't enjoy eating a good 'ol dog in the shade outside with their favorite buddy in the whole entire world?!

And then... our plans got shattered (sort of). We talked to daddy-o and told him of our plans (he was working). He was NOT impressed. He wanted to go. So after much debate... we killed time taking some fun pics downtown while we waited for him to finish up his day and join us.

Then we headed to Keystone to go to Rushmore Cave. But we were about a 1/2-hour earlier than Scott so we stopped at the "goldmine." Nathan LOVED it! He was entertained for like EVER! Then Scott got there and he was entertained for like EVER! I didn't even think we'd make it to the cave before they closed. BUT we did.
This was our first "cave" experience and Nathan loved it. Me... not so much. The smell of going 125 feet underground about gags me. Stale air. I can't deal with it. I dealt with it and am glad I experienced it with my baby, but I probably won't do it again. The tour was about 40 minutes long and the majority of the time, we were walking single file (because it was that narrow) and had to duck our heads on several occasions. I may be just a tad chlosterphobic (how on earth do you spell that word?) nowadays. Not a lot... just a little. At one point Nathan said, "This is the coolest thing in the whole entire world." And that my folks, made it totally worth it! However, at bedtime, I asked him what his favorite part of the day was and he said, "Panning for gold." Good thing we UNexpectadly stopped there!
Hmmm.... what's in store for today? Gotta check that summer list!

Is that picture outside your house!? Amazing!

Sounds like we might be heading gold panning in the near future! They boys would love that!

Isn't panning for gold FUN? I NEVER thought I would like it, but we were so addicted when we tried it this summer!! The kids are still asking to go back . . . Glad you had a good time!!!
