Day 6

Boy, how long does it take to post pics of your entire vacation? Apparently for me... a LONG, LONG time!

Sea World was the venue for Day 6.

I have such mixed emotions when I go to Sea World (and zoos). I love being able to see these amazing creatures up front and personal but I ALWAYS think of Free Willy. Always.

Anyway, we had fun. We went on Atlantis and got wet BUT we learned our lesson from Disneyland. We went when the sun was at it's hottest. We brought Nathan's swimsuit. And let me tell ya... it was much more enjoyable to get wet this way! Nathan and Scott even played in the water after the ride was done for SEVERAL minutes. Then we changed Nathan and went on our merry way - all in a good mood.

Nathan is the boy without a shirt and his daddy is in red ducking behind the garbage can!

Then we got to pet stingrays, real live starfish, and dolphins. We have pet stingrays in the past and they feel like jelly. Not any ol' jelly... grape. They are cool. We love them and spent a ton of time there as well. As for the REAL starfish... are they real? I never did see one move. They don't do ANYTHING at all. Nothing. Now the dolphins... they were our very favorite. They are amazing. I've never been scared of them before but when you are up that close (and your only baby is too), it is more than a little intimidating. I touched them but I would NOT feed them. That would have meant that I touch the sardines or whatever the frozen dead fish were that you BUY to feed them. And that was not about to happen. Petting them was fun... I haven't done that in years since I "swam" with the dolphins off the Florida coast with my cousin Nan. And swimming consisted of getting in the water with them and petting them. We didn't ride their fins or anything...

Baby stingray:

They had an "Extreme Zone" that consisted of rock climbing and this bungee jumping/trampoline type thingy. And while Nathan was doing those two things... Scott went into their "fair" area and won Spiderman. Nathan was so excited about it, which boosted Scott's ego 10 times! HA! Way to go daddy-o!

They had flamingos. Why are these an attraction every park we go to? They are fun to look at but that's about it. They are so very stinky! And they aren't all that cute once you look at them close up. Same with penguins.

Anyway, we closed down the park that night with the whale show rock or something like that. It was cool... but does it hurt their whale ears? Do they have ears? The music was SO loud. But it was good. And we enjoyed it. As long as no ears were hurt in the process.

Sea World is definitely better in Florida... but it was still fun and if we were in California again... we'd go there AGAIN.

P.S. I totally forgot to post one more thing on my post about knowing you're a mom. And this is why I began that post in the first place. So besides knowing you're a mom because your memory is completely removed after giving birth - you know you're a mom when you can master untangling a slinky over and over again. Even when it looks like there is no hope at all and that you may have to bury the slinky in the back yard because it surely is dead. Nope... mom's conquer all and take those tears (about the dead slinky) into smiles. I don't know how we do it!
