Ask and you shall receive!

As I woke up this morning, I wondered down stairs and what should appear but my hubby already up and the punkin still sleeping! Before I could even say good morning, I happened to ask if it was snowing. Reluctantly, my husband said no. But it just had to...we had our Christmas together last night and today we were going to cuddle in all day and play with new toys and watch a holiday movie...and it wouldn't feel quite right if there wasn't a cuddle-in type of day! So, I hesitantly opened the curtains to see that he was right... but wait, as my eyes adjusted to the natural light...I began to see flakes coming down ever so slowly and not many at that. I excitedly told him that it was definitely snowing now. And as we watched, it started coming down like a winter wonderland! I'm not kidding either. It was perfect. It snowed and blowed all day. And, a good cuddle day was had by all.As for last night...I made chicken enchiladas (our favorite) and we got to have pop with supper - that's a HUGE treat. We also watched the Grinch while we ate (another huge treat to have the TV on while eating). The pups had a "holiday dinner" too - thanks to Aunt Jackie. We all got new pj's (new "us" tradition) especially for this night to get comfy for present opening... And then we dug in. Nathan kept insisting that he wanted to see us open our presents first. Can you even believe that from an almost 6 year old? We kept persuading him to go and he said that he was more excited to see us open our gifts! What?! Is this really my child? Anyway, we compromised and all took turns. Since he had WAY more than us...he ended up being last anyway!

And let me just brag for a moment about my hubby. He didn't follow the rules and listen to our set amount guideline. I had written down several suggestions and I think he came through with about every one! Good man! :o) He even ATTEMPTED the ice skates request! Can you believe it? I still can't! He stopped into two antique stores and they didn't have them! Dang - but it was still a gift knowing that he at least tried (which seriously about made me fall over)!

Anyway, I seriously haven't been able to sleep since I saw this 3-foot BISTRO Santa at JCP of all places. Seriously...I fell in love with it at the beginning of the week and have been able to think of little else since then! He rocks my world! He fits in so well with my bistro-ish kitchen! Thanks so much honey!

Ok, here is the 2nd thing I've been drooling over these past few weeks - but I figured he might get me this - didn't think he'd get the Santa (and definitely not both) since it was only for Christmas (unless I leave him up year round, which I just might!). Anyway, I hung it immediately after we were done and it looks perfect over our stairs going into the 3rd level. LLLOOOOVE it too.

Got other things too like the "Deceptively Delicious Cookbook" and the book "Art From the Heart"...plus to top off my good fortune, February's Creating Keepsake magazine came in the mail yesterday! Yahoo...love it when I have good stuff to look through and time to do it! Today was a good day for that if I hadn't got so darn caught up in reading the Pioneer Woman's blog and her story of how she met her Marlboro man. I'm still not done reading the entire thing but found it to be like an amazing love story that you just can't put down...my family, however, seemed to interrupt so much that I decided to save the rest of it until tonight when all are asleep!

Ok, back to Christmas...Nathan got his BB gun for his birthday last Sunday. That was his big present for his b-day - and he wanted to open all of his birthday presents from us at his birthday party instead of on his real birthday. Fine with me...less packing to take to Grandma's house! Anyway, last night his favorite gift was EVERYTHING! I've never seen him so appreciative or so thankful for anything! Could my nagging finally be paying off? Wow - it was a pure treat to see him open ALL his gifts!

Scott's bigger gifts were Sirius radio for his work vehicle and a PS3 game. Of course he got other little things thrown in too. And, it was just fun. Fun to be a family. Just fun to be the 3 of us taking every little detail in with super good Christmas music in the background....of course!

Tonight...it's 10:40 and I think I'll pop in "It's a Wonderful Life" and begin wrapping all of the rest of gifts - including Santa stuff....oh, and read the rest of the Pioneer Woman's love novel online....can't wait!

Thank you for mentioning Pioneer Woman/Marlboro Man. I have thoroughly enjoyed it!
