Expanding

Meet Bullet.  He's the newest family member in the Gordostyle household!

Here's how it went down... the short version:

Nathan all of a sudden wanted to buy a hamster and had to save his money for one.

(Apparently he has wanted one his "whole life.")

I told him to save $75.  He said I said $59.  We walked into Petsmart with $59 and everything cost $86.  Good thing he's cute.  (Nathan that is).  ((Well, the hamster too.))

He named him Chewy after a friends hamster who died.  I asked him to change the name because I didn't know how his friends would feel about that.  So, he named him Bullet.

After we checked out of Petsmart, I had to stay inside, with the dogs, to talk to the groomers. Nathan took Bullet (who was in a box) to the car while I waited for the groomer to get back from lunch.  Needless to say, it took forever.  Finally, Nathan came inside from the car to see what was taking so long.  We finished up and headed back to the car when Nathan opened the car door before I did and said, "Uh-oh."  I knew immediately we had problems.  I started saying, "Nathan you better not have let him out of that box."  But he interrupted me saying, "He got out of the box."  Nathan didn't think he had to CLOSE the box while he came in the store to find me.  It took us a minute until we found Bullet squeezed on the side of my car seat...stuck. We had to put the seat down. Up.  Back.  And forth before we could get to him.  (Let's hope that wasn't a sign of what was yet to come.)

Here are a few quotes that Nathan said after we got Bullet settled into his new home:

"When I'm sad and lonely, I'll always talk to you."

"You're my best buddy, Bullet."

"I'll always remember this day."

"I knew he was the one."

"He's cute, isn't he?"

"I love him."

WE bought him an igloo for inside the cage.  Nathan could not remember the name "igloo" and called it a castle, canoe, and cocoon all in the same night.

And when he was referring to Bullet and couldn't think of his name, he called him Bozo and Beaujo.

So far... so good.  Except the dogs are going bizerck around him.  Let's hope they don't have him for lunch!
