Extremely busy.
But, terrific.
Lots, and I mean LOTS, of camping.
And that in itself makes this summer special and unique from any other.
But now as summer draws to a close, I find myself trying to fit in some of the things that we normally do a LOT of and yet haven't even had time to do once this summer.
Which brings us to one of our favorite spots:
Old Mac's Farm.
I keep thinking Nathan will outgrow this place... but he doesn't.
I secretly hope he works there when he's old enough. Our passion for animals is the same. We can't get enough of them. We can stay at this place for hours and not get bored. And if it weren't for Scott... we'd have our own farm. You know the kind... a funny farm. I'd be going crazy, we'd be turned in for having too many animals in the city, we'd take in one of every kind, two of several, Nathan wouldn't help me with any of them like he would promise to, and I'd be more sick of dog hair than ever before. Anyway, we'll stick to dreaming about having a farm instead and occasionally go visit this one!
Here are a LOT of misc. shots from the day at Old McD's:
They had these adorable hats in their gift shop -- PERFECT for a puppy themed birthday party (which Nathan WON'T have):
The day was B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.... about 65 degrees (my favorite):
A wishing well, good luck with your wishes honey. (Actually he told me he was wishing but didn't really wish for anything. ??? If that's true... I guess he KNOWS he's lucky. Or at least that's how I'd like to look at it!)
Cute:
Turkey's are so UGLY and BEAUTIFUL at the same time. Look at all of God's detail:
Some every-year-favorites:
Wouldn't this be cute framed for fall?
Nathan always likes to watch the fish. I'm just not a fish person. I seriously think they are ugly... but I did think it looked neat that they were swimming in these weeds.
This baby needs a cut and color worse than I do (talk about woolly mammoth):
Did you know that these things (are they called cat tails or something like that?) don't start from a baby brown thing like it would seem that they do. They actually bloom from an enclosed leaf (that's my simple version of it) like corn on the cob:
Do pigs really eat anything and everything? 'Cuz this one was seriously chomping away on this chain. Hearing him crunch it with his teeth gave me the weeby-jeebies.
It's no wonder we don't ever see mountain goats out here. They blend in SO well:
Is this horse HUGE or is it just because he's by a miniature pony?
OK. Seriously. This "thing" was digging a hole. Nesting if you will. Do they dig holes or is this rare? And is it a chicken, rooster, hen, what? (I obviously don't know the difference.):
This bunny always had one ear up and one ear down. She (Fuzzball was her name) LOVED Nathan. We learned a secret last year when we were there that if you feed dandelions to bunnies, they'll be your BFF!

Such fun pictures!!
It's decided... I now need a white picket fence around my garden!
Wait. Are those goats on a suspended bridge in those pictures? What?
Yes, cattails. It looks like a hen to me, but don't quote me on it.
