I've NEVER enjoyed anything more than being a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom).
NEVER.
It will ALWAYS be my most favorite job in the whole entire world.
ALWAYS.
No money or INSURANCE will ever replace that.
NEVER EVER.
Not very many people find their dream job. I did.
But times are changing. Our lives have changed a LOT this past year. I usually LOVE changes but NOT so much with this one.
As you know Scott got laid off last December (2nd). Then on July 1 of this year, he took over a book of business in insurance sales. With this business came NO insurance.
(Insurance sales = NO health insurance. Does that make absolutely NO sense, or what?!)
We decided we'd see how it went in the insurance business and that I would probably look for work come fall time (aka school year). Meanwhile paying for Cobra (not so cheap) insurance... and paying for a new car, extra groceries, extra gas, business expenses, business furniture, etc.!
So a couple of weeks ago, Scott was reading the classified on a Sunday morning when he voiced his every-sunday-reading-the-classified response, "Jen, I think I found a job for you. It's part time with FULL benefits."
Yeah... whatever.
Heard that one before (every Sunday morning for the past 7 years).
But then he said, "Jen. I'm serious on this one." And he read me the description.
I told him I'd check it out. And I did. And I got it.
Good or bad?
Well good because there were a LOT of applicants. Good because they have AWESOME benefits for $90/month. Our Cobra insurance is $1600/month.
Bad because, the next week I got offered the job. And a few days later I started. And school hasN'T started yet. And I have to leave my baby at a daycare.
It's been a whirlwind. I've had MANY ups and downs. I like the people, REALLY like the work, but HATE the fact my summer has come to an end. HATE leaving Nathan at a daycare. HATE trying to balance home and work. HATE the fact that that part of my life, that I've loved WHOLE HEARTILY, has abruptly ended. HATE the pharmaceutical company that made this happen.
But I WILL give it a fair shot. I WILL try my hardest to make it work. I WILL trust in God because he has been so good to me letting me stay home as long as I did.
I WILL.
I just might need some reminding of that once and awhile... possibly every day on the way to work.

Even though that's got to be hard, you've got the right attitude about it. Trust in the Lord.
I know how you feel! I went to work after being home for 7 years. I worked for 2 years, then got laid off for over a year and now they've called me back. I don't even get insurance though, that part blows!
What!?! You got a job - how did I not hear about this until today? You better call me - I need details.
Sorry to hear you're having to switch jobs, but I understand. Praying the transition goes well for you all! :)
I totally understand about the insurance thing. I left my job last year & the COBRA payment is killing us. Been looking for a part-time job at the uni, because they have full coverage.
Jen!! It's been such a long time since I've seen you... I hope the "part time" means you'll have time for coffee once and a while... we seriously need to hit Bully's with Anne once school starts... hope that will work for you??
You have a great attitude! I know that God will bless your efforts!!
