80's Flashback

While in my hometown, my mother had the TERRIFIC idea to go roller skating.

Roller skating?
Yes, roller skating.

You mean like I did back in the olden days?

Yes, like the olden days.

You mean I'm old?

Yes honey, you're old.

You mean my old stompin' grounds when I was in elementary school?
Yes, the good ol' stompin' grounds that you grew up on FULL of great memories.

That place is STILL open?
Yes, they are STILL open.

Rock on!!!

You betcha!!!

Let's go!!!

We went.

We had a blast.

And I LOVED every single second of it.

Hardly anything had changed.
Except the music... it wasn't 80's but it was still good.

And the boys that I skated with... this time I skated with the BEST (and cutest) one ever... Nathan!
(He's got a battery operated flashing light thing-a-ma-jig in his mouth.)

Even granny skated.  And she did a darn good job!
Grandpa watched from the sidelines... Chicken.

Next time we're home... we'll be going again.... FOR SURE!

In fact, it may be a MUST DO every single time we're home!

HILARIOUS!! I love it.
I actually was just telling a friend today how I remember roller skating in my basement to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack!
Ahhhh the good ol' days.

Our family was just discussing how we miss the old skating rink that used to be in this town. I did skate with my two oldest kids at a homeschool skate day every other week when they were younger. You never forget how to skate, but boy did I ever NOT feel as comfortable!! Thanks for the memories.

Cool! My old skating rink is still there but it's out of business. The closest one is about an hour away now.
