My Very Own Paparazzi

Nathan's school puts on an ice skating event every year. We LOVE going and have really looked forward to it these past two years.

However, this year was a little different...

You see, I've been working in the lunch room, at lunch recess, and during bus duty at Nathan's school since January (two hours per day).

I've gotten to know the kids quite well (some of them TOO well... and some of them, not well enough).

At times, I feel like a celebrity (without the money and the good looks) when I'm out and about (ex. soccer, Hobby Lobby, etc.).

As we entered the ice skating rink, I was bombarded with "Hi's" and "Hello's," hugs, and a little bit of talking behind my back as they whispered to their parents, "There's the lunch lady."

(First of all... I do NOT like this title.  It reminds me so much of a super heavy set, big-boned, black curly haired, one eyebrowed, bearded, hair-netted lady from way back when.  No, that picture does not sit well with me at all.)

Anyway...

I never once thought about my "celebrity" status and what kind of trouble I might be asking for if I biffed it REALLY good while ice skating.  BUT we were there.  And I was determined to skate.  I silently prayed to myself, the entire evening, that I would NOT fall.  And thankfully, (and quite surprisingly) I did NOT.

No-No... I would much rather biff it in front of all their parents (see this post) or my neighbors (again, see this post) than the kids paparazzi where they would remind me of it on a daily basis.  (At least the parents laughed silently to themselves and pretended not to be a witness.)

And, luckily... both Nathan I stayed away from his father... who might have been associated with us.

Hilarious!
Isn't it fun to see what kids find worthy of celebrity status?
I've missed you while I was gone from Bloggydom.
I'll be back this weekend to catch up on your life...
Glad you didn't break anything!

LOL!!
I especially love your description of what "lunchlady" reminds you of...
Have you ever heard Adam Sandler's song "Lunchlady"?? It fits with your description quite well.
Here's to re-creating the image of lunchlady of cute, skinny contemporary mom!!

Funny! I can only too well picture a lunch lady image in my mind... but maybe YOU will be the one to change the image in all the minds of these fresh sweet little kids!!
(potatoes please!)

I love your husband's pose. Are you sure he's not a professional?

Checked out your iPod songs. How cool is that? I love Chris Rice's Cartoon Song.

Okay that is absolutely an awesome picture of Scott - both Mark and I laughed out loud when we saw it. I'm printing it and having him autograph it for us, ok? It's a classic!! A.
