I WILL SURVIVE...

Whew.

I've officially checked out from doing this remodeling thing. I just can't seem to make myself do any more. Last night, I hit rock bottom (to say the least).

So what do I do when rock bottom hits? First -- make two calls. One to my mother. And one to my sister. I make them listen to my pity party until they feel VERY sorry for me. Then, I go shopping. And let me tell ya... they all make a girl feel MUCH better!

You see I left the house because I needed to make a Menards run. I hate making Menards runs... Menards is nowhere near our house.

Anyway, as soon as I got into the car... I made my phone calls... and then my car drove straight to the mall. Silly car. But, trust your car - it knows best. I ran into the Gap and Old Navy. Ahhhh.... heaven.
It was SO worth my trip. You wanna know why? The Easter Bunny found the greatest gift at the Gap. A shark watch for the peanut. YAHOO! He loves sharks. And snakes - but we try to ignore that fetish. Anyway, he doesn't know how to tell time yet but it's digital so it doesn't really matter. He is a super hard person to buy for - so when you find stuff you know he'll love - well, it rocks the occasion!
Then I headed to Menards. I almost didn't go. I was secretly hoping they were closed. (Because I closed down the mall.) But they weren't - they were open for another hour. Dang.

But then I walked in and it was so peaceful. It's really nice to go there when they aren't so busy AND when you don't have a nagging child on your hands that keeps wondering when we'll leave the second after entering the store.

So I looked at their light fixtures - and took my time while doing so. It has been a LONG time since I've done that.

I passed the book/magazine isle and told myself that we didn't need anything from there. Keep your eyes focused. Don't look to the left. Don't look to the right.

I got everything on my list. Time to go.

But the cart drove straight back to the magazine isle. I guess I better make sure we don't NEED anything from that isle.

What? 100 Decorating Ideas For Under $100?! I don't have this one yet? I always get these. BUT, I'm trying to stop my magazine addiction. So, I threw it in my cart. After all, I was feeling sorry for myself. Trust your cart. It also knows best.

Then I looked at the children's books. Why does Menards have kids books? For parents that get suckered in, like me. DUH!

No way! Get out! They had # 7 and #8 of the Magic Tree House series. Yahoo! The Easter Bunny was buying these for sure. Look, a CARS book that Nathan could actually read himself (#1 reading level). The Easter Bunny was totally scoring at Menards of all places.
I felt MUCH better. I headed home.

Nathan was still up! (Daddy SO spoils him!) I took out his green shirt from the Gap that he could wear tonight at the school's St. Patty's Day party. Cool. He liked it.

Then I just knew he'd be excited to see the Magic Tree House books so I decided to give them to him as well. After all, it might have given the Easter Bunny away if I had put them in his basket anyway. Don't worry - I saved the Cars book and the watch - and the jelly beans for the Easter Bunny to use.

He asked if we could cuddle in on the couch and read #7. Twist my arm... after all it's only 2 1/2 hours after your bedtime. We'll only read a couple of chapters.

As we snuggled in front of the fireplace, reading this exciting book, we just decided to read it ALL. It was that good. They always are.

Hey, I never said that his mommy doesn't do some spoiling herself. It was so much fun! We just might have round two tonight with book #8 - after the party!

Today... back to remodeling. No need to worry, I know exactly what to do if I hit rock bottom again! HA!

I'm a magazine addict myself! I can't tell you how many times I've bought the same magazine twice (especially when they have two different covers available).
