Becoming Six

This is what Nathan told his friend today, "Five is definitely better than six. When you're six, you have to listen to your mom & dad more."

I guess we've been pushing "6" a little strong. I've been preparing him for some changes we would be making when he turned the big S I X. And, I meant business...we've been really following through with these:

* Brushing his own teeth
* Wiping himself
* No more sippy cups in the morning. (He likes to have strawberry milk in bed while watching his favorite toons.)

I just don't have the heart to make him give up his blankie though. I'll let that come from him. He only uses it at bedtime or when he gets hurt or is feeling sick. Like tonight for instance, he has a tummy ache so his blankie is tucked under his shirt to let the magic powers begin. Who could take that away? And, when we get hurt, he brings it to us to make us feel better.

Man, he's cute.

Tonight, a guy* was driving kind of crazy and suspicious. We were behind him. Nathan asked, "Why don't you call him mom?" I said, "Honey, I don't know his phone number." He said, "Yes you do, it's right there on his license plate."

* Of course, I say "guy". It was dark. And Nathan asked me how I knew it was a guy. Good question. Because girls are better drivers and boys drive crazy. Duh. Ok, I didn't say that - but that's what I was thinking.

SUPER BIG NEWS
Tonight, Nathan read his first book to me (shown above). I made such a big deal about it that he got quite embarrassed and said he didn't like reading in front of people. Hello. I'm your mother. And you WILL like it. Despite the little episode, it was unforgettable. I loved every second of the five-second book. It was awesome and he did it flawlessly!

LUGGAGE TAG
Ok, I couldn't put my luggage tag on my suitcase and tuck it away until the next time I traveled. So, what better place than the ol' scrap room?! As of right now, it may never make it on a trip other than home.

RUMMIKUB
Oh how I miss thee. I'm going through withdrawals tonight and drooling at the thought that we might be able to play tomorrow night.
