Just Curious...

Does anyone else out there drive around scouting for the "big one" before school?

As Nathan and I were getting in the car this morning, we saw "HIM."

HE was right across the street.

And, HE was HUGE!

So, we ran in to get Scotty-boy (who was still in bed).

Actually, I ran in to get Scott - Nathan wasn't going to take his eyes off of HIM.

Scott came running out... in his boxers.  (The high here today is 38 and it's only 8:00 AM.)

But HE had ran.

Darn it.

So, instead of going to school, Nathan and his mommy went on the prowl to see if we could find him... and we found HIM!

(Insert me crying because I didN'T have my camera.)

We ended up being about 12 feet away from HIM and let me just say, he is COOL.

HUGE.

HUGE!!!!

They call HIM the paddlebuck because HE has a horn that points to the ground amongst all the big horns that point the normal direction.

Scott and Nathan have been telling me about HIM but I've never seen HIM.  HE's never been this close to our house (he's always down the hill).

HE is NICE.

Nathan was freaking out.

I was freaking out.

Scott... he went back to bed.

Luckily, we got Nathan to school with only about 2 minutes to spare.

BUT then, I had to run home and grab my camera.

AND Scott (still in his boxers).

We went prowling again...

We found HIM but HE was too far away to take a picture.

Darn it.

It sure was fun though...

It was even funnier to see Scott outside freezin' his buns off, WISHING he would have gotten up when his alarm went off at 0:dark:thirty to go sit in his tree stand.

The early bird gets the worm honey... or in this case... the early hunter gets the big buck!

P.S.  This paddlebuck lives IN the city limits.  He's smart.  And safe.  And BIG!  And COOL!

We live right outside city limits, but still have lots of houses and cars around. The deer come in our yard by droves to eat persimmons and acorns. We've had them frozen in the front yard for minutes while we counted them by moonlight. I've nearly hit them in my driveway. There are dogs all around, too!

Maybe your husband will get up the next time the alarm goes off!
