On Sunday afternoon, we took off with Scott for his monthly business trip to a small town in Nebraska. We love it there. It is a town with limited things to do, which makes it PERFECT for relaxing like a real vacation should be.
There are only a couple of cute shops, a great public swimming pool, a small zoo, Target (can't live without that!), and usually a really fun mini golf/bumper boat/go cart place but that's being remodeled this year (darn!).
Anywho... on the way, Scott spotted these beautiful rainbows.

There is just nothing better than double rainbows that make perfect arches across the plains. EXCEPT when you pull over to take in the beauty and find the end of the rainbow!

And that's just what we spotted! It was so much fun running in the mist across a lonely highway just to take in the beauty. A BUCKET LIST moment to say the least!
Then we got to the hotel, ordered pizza, and hit the pool.

Well... the boys did. I'm now addicted to a new book, "The Friday Night Knitting Club." (Still sad and extremely depressed that my Yada Yada books are over and done with!) Anyway... this one is really good but doesn't hold a candle to Yada Yada. :o)
Anyway... then Nathan decided to practice headstands on the pull out sofa.

He loved it until he realized that he could jump from bed to bed without getting in trouble.

Ahhhh... the fun stuff of staying at a hotel.
Today we slept in (9:00 is pretty good for a 6-year-old), went down to have breakfast, swam, and then walked to Target with Nathan's school supply list in hand.

I'm not sure who was more excited... him or me. However, I'm still in COMPLETE denial that my baby will be in school FULL time this year... if I let him. I've been TRYING with all my might to persuade him to let me home school him but he just won't go for it! Little turkey! Anyway... we had a lot of fun at Target (like always). We looked at everything and spent a good couple of hours in there!

This corn field was right next to Target and our hotel. (Only in Nebraska!)

After that, we came back to the room and he watched a movie while I relaxed and read my book until Scotty-boy joined us and let me take a quick snooze. Life is good!
After supper, Nathan had to try out the jacuzzi tub. Why he insisted on wearing his swimsuit, I don't know.

Then Curious George (Jasper) had to check out the pool-like tub!

P.S. Like my new tatoo? It's on my ankle. I put it on in honor of the Sturgis Rally.

Don't worry mom... it's not real. BUT I'm really lovin' it!

That's so funny! The boys and I did all their school shopping yesterday too! We must be on the same wavelength. Hope you have a great week - let's go to the waterslides when you get back!!
You're such a rebel....was my first thought, then you said it wasn't real!
Randy and I are thinking of taking a day trip to Devil's Tower one of these days...we don't get out much anymore!
Sounds like you had a BLAST!
I love when we get to travel with Big Shooter too. All those small towns make us miss our childhood. We both grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Yes. I said I-DA-HO. And yes, I'm-a-ho. And proud of it!
Thanks for visiting my Olympic Obsession posts.
Have a fabulous Hump Day! Woohoo! It's Wednesday already!
