Today was amazing! First we took the pups to Pet Smart (it just opened). It was fun but a bit of a handful to take them shopping. We got new treats that they've never had so they were super excited about that.
Then we went to the puppy park. It is so beautiful there! It is huge, has a TON of beautiful trees, and a super nice, clear creek running through it. We met lots of pups and SUPER nice people. We ate lunch tailgate style in the back of the Tahoe.
As soon as we started our journey, we met a gal who definitely stood out above the rest. She had 4 or 5 OLD dogs with her...all different sizes and breeds. Anyway, got to talking to this cute, young, positive, energetic, talkative, fun, and passionate gal (who is a morning kindergarten teacher at a nearby elementary school - probably would have had to find a house in her district if I had met her a year ago) and found out that her and her husband adopt ABUSED, SENIOR dogs! How amazing is that?! THINK about the heartache that goes along with that. They recently lost 3 dogs in a 3-month time frame. Her story is REMARKABLE and quite the INSPIRATION! I am AMAZED by her unconditional love for dogs...and I thought I loved dogs! I want to be her!
A lady from out of state heard about this couple and contacted her to see if she would take a dog if they could manage to get it from its abusive situation. She managed all right - stole it right out of the backyard and brought the dog to this couple for a second chance at life. This dog currently has 18 holes from a shotgun shell all over its body. In a way, this lady who stole this dog is an Angel too! Amazing!
This lady was an inspiration to anyone who over heard us talking...and to the all of the people who already knew her that were at the park! I am TRULY honored to have met this Angel today - she will have an everlasting impression on me.
After we met her, we continued on our way and it was WONDERFUL to see our dogs run without their leashes and play with each other and other dogs. Nathan had fun playing with other dogs too and climbing trees. Then we went to the beautiful creek...where the dogs and Nathan got totally soaked and had so much fun playing in the water! WHY couldn't I have remembered my camera? UGH! It about killed me! However, meeting the Angel totally out weighs that by a TON!
I wish my whole family could have been there to meet this lady!
